Maechee Dr. Pairor Thipayathasana is a scientist, Buddhist nun and educator on the par of the noble and excellent. This brilliant woman earned her B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry and Bio-Chemistry respectively, from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok , Thailand . Then she traveled abroad to earn her doctorate in Bio-Chemistry from the University of California at San Diego , USA . For several decades she taught at Chulalongkorn University .
Meanwhile, she studied Dhamma, particularly the work of Buddhadasa Bhkikkhu. After her retirement as a professor and researcher, she devoted her life to Buddhism and received ordination as a Maechee (eight precept Thai nun). With her spiritual inspiration from Buddhadasa, she followed in his footsteps writing Dhamma articles regularly for the Buddhist Journal of Suan Mok Monastery. At this internationally renowned meditation center in Surat Thani , Thailand , she regularly teaches Dhamma and meditation in English to international Buddhists who come on retreat. She has already taught students from over 40 different countries.
Her home and quiet abode is Ashram Mata in Korat. When not traveling and teaching at Suan Mok Monastery, she serves as the Spiritual Director of Mahapajapati Theri College , Southeast Asia ’s first college for Buddhist nuns. At this college founded by the now-deceased Venerable Maechee Khunying Kanitha Wichiencharoen, Maechee Dr. Pairor teaches Buddhist Philosophy and guides her students in spiritual cultivation.
