Bhiksuni Clear Grace Dayananda carries forward both Theravada and Mahayana lineages. If one seeks to embark on an introspective journey, then she serves as a guiding light to inspire self-discovery and encourage fierce reconciliation through her compassionate understanding.
Formerly a successful executive, she left it behind, and one day too she left the monastery behind. She packed her things into a van and began a 2 1/2 year journey across the south in the USA to teach the Dhamma and bring service to the streets.
She describes herself, as a black queer monastic, and she is taking a stand to bring /share the Dharma with African Americans. In her van, the first thing noticeable is the altar to the Buddha, teachers and ancestors. During her Dhamma Journey, she has looked at the root of homelessness, poverty, gentrification and the political, racialized violence. She does her early morning walking meditation down the Main Street of towns and cities being present and meeting people.
Her journey has led her to Louisiana where she plans to establish a meditation center.
