Bhiksuni Tian-De Shih was born in 1955 and is a monastic for 44 years. She holds a B.A. in History from Tunghai University and a M.A. in Buddhist Research from Hua Fan University. Since 2013, she has been the Abbess of Shinchi Temple.

She serves in leadership roles in the Taiwan Buddhist Association, the Chinese Buddhist Bhiksuni Association, and is the founder of the Taiwan Shinchi Lotus Merit Association.

Through her foundation, she has empowered countless beings in need: Ukrainians with medical assistance in 2021, African children with food and accommodations, Turks post-earthquake with material and financial aid, typhoon survivors with relief services, persons in distress with financial assistance, and students with college scholarships.

For thirty years, she has published the quarterly magazine of the Taiwan Shinchi Lotus Merit Association, organized Buddhist camps, given Dhamma teachings, offered counseling, coordinated orchestral performances, and trained volunteers (358 in total) and volunteer group leaders to practice the compassion and loving-kindness of Buddhism.
