Bhiksuni Yi Xin

Taiwan

Venerable Bhiksuni Yi Xin was born in 1940. Her father's generosity and inclusive nature towards others as a district leader deeply impressed her, and she followed in his footsteps through great generosity towards numerous Buddhist organizations and national leadership of inclusivity for all groups into her heart.

Another influential component of her youth began in 1956, when she joined Jing Ye College Women's Dhamma Propagation group where she trained as a Dharma teacher. Here she could integrate her love of Buddhist chanting, singing and drumming. She joined her community as a Dhamma teacher, a joyous calling, for decades.

In 1974 she established the Ci De Practice Group and by 1980 she founded Ci De Buddhist Hall, which has continued for 44 years. All donations collected at her Buddhist Hall are channeled to support educational, cultural and social welfare activities organized by other Buddhist organizations, and assisting them in building their new temples, as well as, assisting people in need of help who come to the Buddhist Hall.

In 2006 she accepted further leadership by receiving Bhiksuni ordination, and also the Directorship of Hsuan Chuang University.

Venerable Bhiksuni Yi Xin knows that "life is only one breath moment." She also knows that material resources cannot follow one to the next life.
