Maechee Dr. Subin Phonlamai was born in Surin, Thailand in 1963. At the age of 19, she became an 8-precept white-robed nun.

She has focused her career on four areas: Dhamma teachings for women in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and India; participation in Buddhist Cannon ceremonial readings in India; establishment of the Bodhi Savika Institute, where she now serves as President; and maintenance of the Thai Maechee Institute Office of Surin located in Jong Surin Temple.

From her office and with her colleagues, she has supervised and empowered Maechees throughout Surin Province as their leader.

She enjoys attending international Buddhist gatherings of Bodhisattva University and Sakyadhita International.
