Ms. Ruifeng Shen was born in 1956 in Taichung County, Taiwan, a remote mountainous area with cold winters and inconvenient transportation. She grew up in an ordinary, industrious, frugal family, and her parents' hard work, patience, and integrity laid a solid foundation for her steady and grounded character.
From a young age, Ms. Shen was diligent in her studies. Through unwavering determination and continuous effort, she ultimately graduated from the Department of Accounting at Feng Chia University and established her own accounting firm, building a stable and reputable professional foundation.
After marriage, she and her husband embarked on an entrepreneurial journey together, jointly operating a Class-A construction company, which built roads and highways throughout Taiwan. What is particularly noteworthy is that in this traditionally arduous and highly labor-intensive construction sector, Ms. Ruifeng Shen always led by example. She personally handled everything from bid evaluations and professional presentations to price negotiations, and even on-site supervision and team leadership.
In terms of faith, Ms. Shen has long been deeply influenced by the teachings of the Buddha, making \"loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity\" the core principles of her life practice, which is noted in the warm and harmonious relationships in her family, making her not only a dependable presence in the hearts of her family members but also the most beloved and closest grandmother to her two young grandchildren.
Ms. Shen has also long been a devout supporter of the Triple Gems, quietly backing temples, monastics, and Dharma propagation efforts. She firmly believes that \"protecting the Dharma is itself a practice, and practice lies in daily life.\" All her contributions are made with a pure and reverent heart, not seeking fame or recognition, but solely wishing for the long-lasting preservation of the true Dharma and the benefit of all beings.
Under her leadership and participation, the Taiwan Sunshine Women\'s Association has promoted social welfare services such as women\'s support, family care, and companionship for disadvantaged groups, addressing hidden and often overlooked needs in society. Her philanthropic work is gentle yet firm, combining long-term institutional engagement with intimate, heartfelt companionship, truly embodying the Buddhist spirit of \"alleviating suffering, giving joy, benefiting others, and benefiting oneself.\"
On International Women's Day 2026, Ms. Ruifeng Shen gathers with outstanding Buddhist women from around the world in Thailand to receive public commendation from the international Buddhist community. This honor not only recognizes her personal life and conduct, but also highlights the exemplary Bodhisattva practice of Buddhist women who, with the spirit of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity, pave the way in this world and benefit all beings. It is a well-deserved recognition.
